Attendance Policy
- Summary
- Blue Jay Cleaning Service requires all hourly employees adhere to the company attendance policy. The policy exists to protect the relationship between Blue Jay Cleaning Services and its customers. Management reserves the right to deviate from this policy for extenuating circumstances.
- Vacation
- Vacation is awarded to full-time and part time employees after completing 1 year of service. Full-time employees with be awarded 1 week (40 hours) paid vacation time. Part-time employees will be awarded 1 week (Averaged hours for the previous 3 months) paid vacation time
- Vacation requests must be submitted to management at least one week in prior to single day requests and 2 weeks prior to the requested days off for 2 or more consecutive days.
- Vacation hours will be prorated for the first eligible year. i.e. employee’s anniversary is in June, vacation for that calendar year would be awarded at 50% of a full calendar year.
- Management reserves the right to decline vacation requests due to the needs of the business. Blue Jay management is committed to make every effort to meet employees vacation requests when submitted by the required time.
- Any vacation time that is not used within that calendar year will be forfeited.
- Unexcused absences
- Unexcused absences are detrimental to the business. It is imperative that employees show up at the job site when scheduled.
- Unexcused absences are defined as any absence not previously approved by Blue Jay management.
- Blue Jay employees who have more than 3 unexcused absence occurrences in a given calendar year may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination
- An occurrence is any one or consecutive group of days due to the same ailment, issue or sickness. i.e. an employee who misses 3 consecutive days due to the flu would have 1 occurrence recorded.
- Scheduled Un-paid time off
- Blue Jay management tries to maintain as flexible as a schedule as the business will allow. Employees can request un-paid time off for personal reasons.
- Single day or partial day requests must be made at least 1 week prior to any scheduled shift
- Multiple day requests must be made a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the first requested day off
- Management reserves the right to decline any request based on the needs of the business
- Swapping Shifts/ Coverage
- Swapping shifts or finding someone to cover is allowed but the responsibility of these actions rest solely on the requesting employee.
- Once two employees agree on a swap or coverage a formal request must be made to the office manager. No schedule changes are guaranteed until approved and reflected on the company schedule.
- If a request is made and the company schedule does not reflect the request the responsibility of that cleaning falls back to the originally scheduled employee.
